A CASED .38 (S&W) SMITH & WESSON DOUBLE-ACTION SECOND MODEL POCKET REVOLVER, serial no. 107780,
circa 1883, with nickel-plated 3 1/4in. barrel, raised sighting rib signed by the maker and with patent dates to 1880, crescent fore-sight and sighting notch to the lift-up barrel latch at rear, fluted cylinder with double locking notches and automatic ejection, break open frame, exposed hammer, blued trigger guard and chequered hard rubber grips embossed with the Smith & Wesson monogram, much original finish remaining and in a fitted English market oak case lined and compartmented in blue baize with a turn-screw, oil bottle cleaning rod and period Eley card carton for 50 rounds (no inner tray or contents)
